Strength and Grace

I have amazing friends.  The kind of friends who lift you up, push you forward, and high five you when you have made it.  They encourage.  They support.  I need them.  You need them too.  And as much as I would love to loan out a friend or two to you, I don’t think it works that way.

But I have good news for you.  I made a recent friend at a barre studio, and you want her (and can have her) in your life too.  Her name is Kennen.  She is amazing.  I joined her a few weeks ago after a horrible day.  A day full of failure and messes.  A day where dinner was nowhere to be found, the carpet was littered with goldfish, and the dark circles under my eyes couldn’t be taken off with eye make up remover.  But then I met Kennen.

Just look how happy I am to be out of my house and at Barre 3.

Kennen is the teacher at Barre 3 Studio in Sioux Falls.  And her energy is contagious.  But what did I love more than her energy?  Her support.  The class was beautiful.  Women in their sixties, women in their twenties, tired women, toned women, and me.  I haven’t been to the gym in years.  So, to say I was hesitant is an understatement.  But Kennen took us all in.  She started the class by saying “Today we focus on strength and grace.”  And we did.

She reminded me over and over again that I was strong.  She commented on my graceful movements (which has never happened before).  She encouraged me.  She showed me who I was under the dark circles and goldfish crackers.  She was amazing because she made me feel amazing.

And on top of this all….I got a great work out too!  I was able to set my own limits and push myself as far as I wanted to.  The next day I had that “good hurt.”  You know what I am talking about.  I love the “good hurt.”  Rumor has it, all of the trainers at Barre 3 are this amazing.

Wait!  I haven’t even told you the best part!  There is child care!  Yes, child care while you work out!  Can you believe this?!  And do you know how much I love this place?  I love it so much that next week Monday, December 5th at 10 am, I am going to hang out in the child care area.  You can drop off your kids, they get a play date with The Speech Mom, and a free screen if you have any speech, language, or feeding concerns…all while you work out!  Yes, I am serious.  Typically the child care is $5 (worth every penny), but December 5th at 10 am, it is going to be free.  FREE.  Courtesy of Barre 3 and The Speech Mom.  Because we are awesome like that.

barre-3-1Okay, but maybe I got a little bit ahead of myself.  Is the child care the best part?  Or is the best part the fact that your first class is free?  I don’t know!  I can’t decide!  Sign up and decide for yourself!  Check out Barre 3!  Make sure to reserve a spot online for yourself here, and a spot for your kiddo here.  Space is limited!  You will be so excited you did! You need another supportive friend in your life, we all do!
